This clickbait Newsweek headline is pretty funny. newsweek.com/vegan-neighbor…
Naturally, I took the bait and clicked. It turns out the "Supreme Court" referenced in the headline is the Supreme Court of Western Australia. Note that's not Australia but WESTERN Australia--i.e., it's a state supreme court.
The article is unclear about who actually decided the case. It sounds as though it was actually an administrative court, and the SCOWA merely declined to hear her appeal.
I looked it up, and sure enough. "Leave to appeal refused." ecourts.justice.wa.gov.au/eCourtsPortal/…
The decision was published Aug. 13. Newsweek waddled in with its "report" three weeks later, on Sept. 3.
Here's my favorite part: The decision is signed by a "research associate."
Newsweek has become almost as silly as it was in the @sullydish days.
