My slightly out there thread a few days ago about how Boris Johnson could be trapped in office but not in power has become a whole lot more relevant now that he has a -43 (or less, given MPs not standing in a GE) majority.

The basic idea is to leave him stuck as PM without the ability to do anything. Oh, he can (and should) go to Brussels and negotiate. But he can't do anything harmful back at home. The hugely dominant opposition forces basically form an Opposition of National Unity.

This would *not* be sustainable long-term, mainly because of how daft it looks. But for the short-term while the Brexit crisis rages it's a decent way to get around the tricky "we can't decide on who can lead a GNU": have *nobody* from the team lead it, but use BJ as puppet.

Then once the Brexit deadline has been safely extended and 31 October has passed (to the shrieks of the hardcore Leavers) they can free BJ from political prison and let him have his GE with a furious Brexit Party snapping at his heels and screaming betrayal.

So if he goes for a GE under the FTPA, vote it down.
If he tries a simple majority bill for a GE, vote it down.
If he tries to Vote of No Confidence himself to bring down his Government and trigger a GE, stick him back in the hot seat and watch him squirm.
