1/ In the “this makes no fucking sense category” I give you : super fast funding rounds.
2/ Fast funding rounds done well are great - meet strong investor, have meaningful engagement and alignment, get money in bank, get back to work
3/ But here’s what I’m seeing - “I talked to a few relatively random sources of capital, I kinda committed to the first one who gave me a term-sheet and now I want to make a decision within a few days and I’m oversubscribed”

1/ Unusual share of a VC’s fund performance shows what it takes to achieve > 3X return.
2/ Observations : (1) usual skew in returns with 2 companies carrying major share of returns (2) 15 years to second major exit - ride your winners! (3) only 19 companies in portfolio - lower diversification than portfolio math would suggest
3/ but importantly - well done @Elaia_Partners on delivering the goods and being willing to share 🙏

It’s not ur system or method or lack of understanding the market that buries you. It is the demons run amuck that are still invisible to u bc u are too scared to see how pathetic u are inside.

We are all pathetic and needy. Embracing that allows u to see ur enemy. That is big.

We live in a world that's enveloped by capitalism.

When we ask someone "what do you do?" it means "how do you sell your labour?", as if that's the most important thing.

We're relentlessly tracked and advertised to. We're told this is good, as we can have things for "free".
So many times I've done things *for fun*, and been asked how that makes money, or been told it's so good I could sell it.

I hate this. I hate a society that forces people to always be thinking about how they can make a dollar.

I hate that we judge someone's worth by their job.
I hate we have a system that makes rich people richer. It's right there in the name. Capitalism. It advantages people with capital.

I hate the biggest predictor of one's wealth is the wealth of one's parents.

This is terribly sick, but we've grown up with it. Normalised it.

Twitter has made a huge positive impact on my life. Lots of people complain about it, so I wanted to write some notes about how I use it.

Love to hear others' strategies too.
I will unabashedly say this at the outset: my Twitter feed is filled with wonder and surprise and delight.
Intellectually, it feels collectively like having Nobel laureates in all disciplines hanging out in the tea room just down the hall. I can pop in whenever I like, hear them noodling, occasionally contribute myself.
