It’s never too late to make things Less Bad, “That New Yorker article is ridiculously flawed” edition.

I am unamused at this trend of replacing climate denialism with climate nihilism.
“We’re hopelessly screwed” is on the same list as “The EARTH will survive!” for absurdly bad takes.

Or it would be absurd except the jackasses have power & influence to actively make our future worse.

It is NEVER too late to make our future Less Bad.
& it can always get worse.
Climate nihilism is a lazy take to enable the same bad behaviour that got us in to this mess.

Saying we’re already screwed & everything is hopeless is an active distractor to derail meaningful change and hard conversations on how to get a better future.

Fuck that noise.
Yes, it’s too late to reclaim our old normal. But our choices, actions, & policies NOW still have an enormous impact on our future new normal.

We can still stabilize at something not-too-terrible. We can still pick the less-bad futures.

We can still be smarter than algae.
A thoughtful, detailed takedown on why that New Yorker piece is so very bad, lazy, selfish, inaccurate, and harmful:
Notice how many women journalists on the climate beat have WAY BETTER takes that are more informative, accurate, & actionable?

Yeah. Maybe the New Yorker should commission any of them instead.
