I do get that sometimes conservatives tend to negate empirical stuff like global warming and the effects of CO2 on the planet atmosphere. However, this doesn't excuse a misuse of the scientific data on behalf of the environmental agenda. --->
Is the Amazon rainforest really "the lungs of the planet"? Most certainly not. The total amount of oxygen released by all of the rainforests of the planet - all of them, not just the Amazon one - is roughly 28% of the total. And that's not the end of it. --->
Half of this oxygen gets used by the plants for metabolic needs, and some more by the microbiota living in the soil, meaning that the net amount of oxygen coming from the Amazon rainforest - or any rainforest - is almost non existent. --->

The oxygen we use to breathe comes mostly from the marine phytoplankton. For real. Does this mean we shouldn't care for the Amazon fires? No. But we shouldn't also be giving false information to the public just for the sake of being right or in order to pursue a political agenda.
