1. It is intensely distressing to admit that we are in a lawless country, where only one more piece needs to fall before we are officially an autocracy: The president refuses to step down after losing the election.

We have a executive branch that ignores subpoenas, that ...
2....invokes non-existent "privileges" to refuse to answer questions that are part on basic oversight, that invokes authorities it does not have, and that has a completely politicized Justice Deparment meaning every person breaking the law knows they will not be prosecuted...
3...we have a single individual - Moscow Mitch - who has used loopholes no one has ever perceived before to make himself the sole arbiter of what legislation will be allowed to be approved by Congress, and whether a president will have to win a veto challenge. There are no...
4...needs for vetoes, because Moscow Mitch does not allow anything passed by the House to even be debated in the Senate. Add to that - Moscow Mitch has flat-out spat on the Constitution by making up a rule that allows him and him alone to determine whether a SCOTUS nominee will..
5...be allowed even to have hearings, much less a debate.

And then there is the undermining of democracy. You have a Supreme Court that eviscerated the Voting Rights Act, leading to the almost immediate shuttering of close to 2,000 polling places...
6...leaving it that the thousands of people in those places - most of which are in areas of minorities- will have to wait in single lines to vote. And just like last time, at the moment the polls are supposed to close, GOP will rush in and say "screw all these people in line...
7..."rules are rules and just because there were too many of them to vote in the one polling place we allowed to stay open doesn't mean anything." Then voter IDs - which people who work 9-5 jobs can't get without taking time off from work and risking getting fired - designed...
8...to combat imaginary voter fraud.

Our country is gone, because of this lawlessness and recklessness. Can it be saved?

No. Because the GODDAMN @TheDemocrats who should be standing up for law, who should be acting on people refusing to abide by subpoenas....
@TheDemocrats 9...are playing this "well, let's do the political calculations. What will it mean if we try to stand up for law and Constitutional principles? We might lose votes!"

The American ideal deserves a better government than it has. Unfortunately, US voters deserve the one we got.
