I ride a motorcycle, and use a backpack for my lunch and for small shopping errands. What I don’t completely understand is how some businesses ban backpacks, but not the open carry of firearms—especially in a state with no training or permit requirements for open carry.
It seems to me that there’s a fair amount of complexity involved in reaching around to unzip a backpack that’s strapped to one’s back, then thwarting CCTV cameras and other loss prevention techniques long enough to score some unhealthy convenience store snacks.
If I’m ever caught unaware by this policy and asked to leave, maybe I’ll try shouting “But my backpack is full of guns!” as a defense.
