The Department of Homeland Security is focusing on white nationalist extremism: theatlantic.com/politics/archi…
The concern lies in what this actually *means* for law enforcement (I wrote a bit about that a while back) vox.com/policy-and-pol…
I’m going to write this up, but this is such an important point, one that keeps getting missed by… some people:

There are no “lone wolves” in white nationalist terror. As the report notes, white nationalist terror is transnational and one attack inspires another.
These aren’t individual “crazy people” anymore than ISIS-inspired terrorists are just random attackers. There is a specific ideology that they are following, and a specific style of attack they know will be most effective.
The point of white nationalist terror is not to create a mass popular movement with thousands of people marching in the streets. The point of white nationalist terror is to inspire an apocalyptic race war that ends with the murder of all non-white people on earth.
The Oklahoma City bombing — the deadliest domestic terror attack in American history, killing 168 people and injuring more than 600 — was committed by just two people, guided by a singular ideology and inspired by one book (The Turner Diaries).
And that’s what makes white nationalist terror — with the reminder that white nationalism is not interchangeable with “white supremacy” or simple “racism” — so dangerous and concerning to so many people.
If you haven’t watched the Frontline documentary on the Oklahoma City bombing, which should be viewed as one of the most important and devastating events in recent American history, please do: pbs.org/wgbh/americane…
