2/ Over the span of three days in August, two Sikh American men were violently attacked in California’s Central Valley.

Surjit Singh Malhi told the @nytimes that two men assaulted him from behind as he was putting up political signs in his neighborhood. nytimes.com/2018/08/06/us/…

3/ “You don’t belong here,” they reportedly yelled during the attack. When he returned to his truck after the attack, he found “Go back to your country,” scrawled on the vehicle.

4/ Just 30 miles away, two teenage boys attacked 71-year-old Sahib Singh as he was walking around a park. One of the boys was the son of a local police chief.

8/ The communities of these two recent victims rallied in their support in the wake of the attacks. A group from Malhi’s Crossfit gym helped him plant flowers in his yard and hundreds of people joined Singh on a walk the weekend after his attack.
