Poor communication and ego walk hand in hand in a relationship. Secondly, there's something psychologically deep that you need to address, if you have a problem saying sorry, even when there's a lot at stake. An unbridled pride can set your once-in-a-lifetime prospect ablaze.
10yrs after, I had the chance of asking, "what happened" between two lovers who were business partners, but parted ways at a crucial time in business, to marry different people. Their partnership was part of a SPV at the forefront of acquiring OML 119, before NPDC took it over.
The dissolution of their love affairs scattered things so much that their financiers lost millions spent on consultancy.
I asked the man what would have made him not break up with the woman during the crisis, and he said, "an apology." I was dumbfounded. You mean saying sorry? 😳
I was expecting him to mention something very big like a dispute about money in millions of dollars. It was hard to believe.
The goal of trying to bring these Exes back together is because of business, and we want to be aware of the risks, learning from the first incident.
I got another shocker when I told the woman that her Ex said all that he wanted, that could have kept things going was a "sorry." She was a little startled, but shrugged it off saying, "well, if all he wanted was a sorry, he should have said so instead of asking for a break up."
She went further that she knew her Ex wanted an apology, but she was determined to curtail his ego. I asked, "what would it have cost you, if you said sorry?" She said, "nothing!" I was irritated remembering how much these egos cost. I for dey Caribbean now, i for dey watch NYSE.
Dont expect that people will always pant after your emotional body language. Talk! Talk! When u're in a relationship use your mouth! Dont take it for granted that your ride-or-die soulmate, one day will forsake everything and take a costly walk away from whatever it is, there is!
