How this plays out:

1. Trump will be impeached by the House. After this whistle-blower report, it will probably happen sooner rather than later

2. No Republican currently supports impeachment or removal

3. Republicans now have to decide if they are a political party or a cult
McConnell would probably prefer to just sit on the articles of impeachment and spare his members from a tough vote.

But Trump, of course, will want the Senate to "vindicate" him by voting against the articles of impeachment
Like most things in politics, nothing will change until everything does.

Republicans appeared willing to overlook the call summary released yesterday, which was very very bad

But the whistle-blower complaint is worse.

Is there any line?

Facebook's upcoming "news" tab sounds like an absolute train wreck

"Facebook will highlight only publishers that rated above a certain level of trustworthiness in surveys the company conducted...last year."

This is from a company that has DAILY CALLER do its fact checking
The page, which Facebook says will be limited to trustworthy outlets, may include BREITBART

The company is including Breitbart, which has laundered white nationalist talking points, to avoid claims of conservative bias

I reported that the Daily Caller reviewed a post by the "Rowdy Republican" page that had a dangerous scam targeting people with diabetes.

1. The "Police Lives Matter" Facebook page accumulated 170K fans

The page purported to be run by U.S. police officers, with cops posting about the "first dayshift of my career with a K9"

It was actually run from Kosovo

2. The page trafficked in misinformation about U.S. cops.

For example, on August 19, 2019, the page claimed that Deputy Farrah Turner had just died from gunshot wounds

Turner actually died 10 months earlier, in October 2018

3. "Police Lives Matter" was part of a network of Facebook pages run from Kosovo that sought to exploit the right-wing backlash against the Black Lives Matter movement w/names like "I Support The Police US not Criminals"

It included pro-Trump memes.

A note on #impeachment -

In a court of law, under non-presidential circumstances, impeachment is a tool litigation attorneys use to discredit the opposing side's witnesses at trial. When said witness takes the stand under oath attys. present evidence contrary to what the witness
claims. This weakens the other side's case by discrediting impeached witnesses's testimony. Once a witness has been impeached - by presentment of inconsistent testimony - the judge/jury can no longer use the impeached witnesses's testimony in reaching a verdict.
Simply put, they aren't trustworthy. In the case of Presidential impeachment that broad definition of impeachment applies, but the impeachment tool is used for a very different purpose. Under the Constitution, a sitting President cannot be tried in a court of law for anything.

But that's the problem with Mueller. As I noted previously: Robert Mueller's only real mistake is thinking that all Americans are as smart, rational, and as duty-bound to the Republic as he is.

He has a much, much higher opinion of Americans than we deserve.
