A thought experiment (gas law and similar calculations are allowed, if desired):

1) Take a gas cylinder with an internal, transmitting thermometer and 1 bar of CO₂ and put it in a room at 20°C. What will the internal temperature be after one day?
2) Over a period of 1 minute fill the cylinder with CO₂ to 100 bar. What will the internal temperature be immediately after? After 1 hour? After one day? After one week?
3) Now place the cylinder into a vat of boiling water. What will the internal temperature be immediately after? After 1 hour? After one day? After one week?
4) Now place the cylinder back into the room at room temperature. What will the internal temperature be immediately after? After 1 hour? After one day? After one week?
5) Now place the cylinder into a replenishing Eskie of dry ice. What will the internal temperature be immediately after? After 1 hour? After one day? After one week?
6) Now place the cylinder back into the room at room temperature. What will the internal temperature be immediately after? After 1 hour? After one day? After one week?
7) Now evacuate the cylinder to 1 bar over the period of one minute. What will the internal temperature be immediately after? After 1 hour? After one day? After one week? Bonus points if you're monitoring the evacuated gas...
8) Repeat 1-7, replacing the CO₂ with O₂, and then repeat again with the CO₂ replaced by N₂.

Let's start from the beginning. W Jackson Davis is an emeritus whose work on "alternative" theories to human-caused climate change garners almost no scientific credibility.

Davis is moderately recognised though for being a useful agent of the climate science denial movement. Heartland, WUWT, Curry, and those of similar ilk (including the posters here) happily jump on his work without critical appraisal.

The Davis paper to which StormSignal linked above garnered very professional little attention, in part because it is a very crude and severely limited analysis, and hence it holds little of notable scientific merit. Let me list some of the issues...

you COULD realize you won lotto, but basically no one does this

it is a small jump from this to "since i am so enlightened, let me tell you about the 15 other totally orthogonal things i also have views about!"

social pressure is exerted and ideas coalesce together as if under some form of meme gravity.

Flawed Model
The Uk's history is popularly explained by only one interpretation, known as the Whig interpretation. This explains it as a series of events by which parliament became supreme. Given the government's contempt for parliament, it doesn't look that supreme to me.
Serfs not Smurfs
In the middle ages the Kings of England found it hard to raise taxes, so they established parliament to do so. Nobles, & in exchange for granting taxes they demanded land. Since the kings had little they instead gave them the land of the serfs in the Enclosures.
