Video shows helmeted guards firing pepper balls and shooting tasers into Paul Silva's cell at San Diego county jail, then entering the cell, and pinning him down until he loses consciousness. sandiegouniontribune.com/video/xk-gdvlk…
Mr. Silva suffered massive brain damage as a result of the attack, went into an immediate coma and died a few weeks later.

He was being released, but refused to leave his cell to see a nurse. So they sent in a full-on SWAT team to remove him.
Mr. Silva is just one of 140 people who have died in San Diego county jails since 2009.

Remember a week ago when Tamarac City Commissioner Mike Gelin called out Broward County cop Joshua Gallardo for wrongfully arresting him?

So Commissioner Gelin released his cell phone video of the arrest. And guess what? He was right.

What's shown in the video completely aligns with Commissioner Gelin's narrative of events. It also shows that both the police report and the Internal Affairs Report into Gallardo were not just inaccurate, but contained outright lies.

So San Francisco DA George Gascón just announced his resignation, a month before the DA election, and now Mayor London Breed is talking about appointing an interim replacement.

If she does that's likely to be Suzy Loftus, the candidate she's endorsed in the race.
Last year, Mayor Breed appointed Faauuga Moliga — the candidate she endorsed — to a vacant seat on the San Francisco Board of Education, just three weeks before election day. Moliga ultimately won the seat, and many accused the mayor of putting her thumb on the election scale.

Lamar Johnson has been in prison since he was wrongfully convicted of murder in 1995. St Louis prosecutor Kim Gardner filed a motion to vacate his conviction in August, but a judge denied it, saying it was filed 24 years too late. #WrongfulConvictionDay injusticewatch.org/news/2019/judg…
There is overwhelming evidence of Mr. Johnson's innocence. The conviction was obtained because of “a staggering amount of misconduct on the part of homicide detectives and prosecutors.” washingtonpost.com/nation/2019/07…
Given the motion was filed by Kim Gardner, after an investigation by her conviction integrity unit and there is agreement on Mr. Johnson's innocence, this ruling is extraordinary.

#SanDiego is also home to one of the largest St Patrick’s Day parades west of the Rockys with over 30k people lining the streets. The parade is organised by the Irish Congress of #SoCal with support from the Friendly Sons, the House of Ireland & all the Irish organisations in SD

San Diego County Medical Examiner just released Earl McNeil's autopsy report. Significant portions of the investigative narrative are redacted, but the report notes abrasions to his wrists, knee and foot +
Cause of death is hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy — brain damage from lack of oxygen —due to resuscitated cardiorespiratory arrest. Meth toxicity, agitation and and "respiratory compromise" are also contributing factors.
This doesn't strike me as any different than any positional restraint death, even though the Wrap (used on McNeil) is supposed to be more humane than hogtying.
