Thread: A few days ago, the Swedish Center party (@Centerpartiet) voted to pursue a full ban on male (under 18) circumcision. Centerpartiet is not a niche party, it is center/liberal and a part of the conservative coalition, making their decision all the more outrageous. 1/4
Previously, the circumcision ban has been proposed by the far right, but the issue is becoming mainstream here in Sweden & is likely to pass, given the virulent anti-Jewish sentiment in the country, and if it does it will make Jewish life in Sweden impossible. 2/4
Centerpartiet was instrumental in banning kosher slaughter in 1937 (the party was then known as Bondepartiet), but back then it didn’t try to hide its motives when stating “the Jews have enough meat as it is”, claiming that Jewish traditions are simply un-Swedish 3/4
This is a ban on Jewish life & another shameful blemish on Sweden’s liberal exterior. If it passes, Sweden will become judenrein & the heartbreaking truth is that I think few people would protest, if we’re forced to leave. I hope to be proven wrong, but not holding my breath 4/4
