Many times Pompeo goes to a podium to pontificate on Iran or religious freedom, it often seems like cover for how little policy gets done
so little actual foreign policy and so little diplomacy. just these press releases and gimmicky things for their website.
to make it look like they are doing things, when what top Pompeo aides are really doing is conspiring with Giuliani on fixing 2020 for Trump
literally and seriously conspiring with Giuliani under Trump direction on fixing 2020 for Trump
even Kushner June 4/5 trip to meet Zelensky & Sondland had cover that he was briefing EU folks about his ME peace plan. what a joke
how press has strained to think maybe they are actually meeting on Iran or ME, when we were such epic idiots. there was no there there
there is a structural bias in policy beat reporting towards thinking/writing that they are roughly doing what they say they are doing

And Pompeo hightails it to Brussels, where Sondland posted, with no press pool two days later on Sept. 2. 2/

So the @StateDept uses taxpayer money to fund online attacks on @HRW because the organization is researching the human cost of US sanctions in #Iran.

Is this even legal?
“Iran Disinformation Project” website says it was launched in 2018 and is funded by @StateDept Global Engagement Center to expose disinformation coming from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Lost in much of the discussion surrounding the Trump admin's imposition of unilateral US sanctions against #Iran is the massive human suffering caused by his so-called "maximum pressure" campaign.
Make no mistake, the purpose of these sanctions isn't to gain leverage to advance some sort of diplomatic process aimed at compromise.

They're pressure for the sake of pressure, aimed at creating a destructive situation inside #Iran.
Trump's #Iran policy is firmly under the control of figures long opposed to US-Iran diplomacy in principle, a la John Bolton, Mike Pompeo & Brian Hook.

Trump has based his Iran policy on the wishes of his right-wing billionaire donors & his Saudi, Emirati, & Israeli friends.
