Bloomberg Law published a smear that temporarily cost Leif Olson his job, then they spent a month defending that smear. The finally retracted the original article, but still haven't explained how it happened.

Bloomberg Law was forced into a retraction after a FOIA request from @tedfrank showed the publication and reporter responsible had misrepresented Olson's post and then lied about it.

A simple retraction just isn't enough. @bloomberglaw owes it to their readers to explain how this happened, and what they will be doing to ensure it won't happen again. At least if they want to maintain credibility as a serious outlet.

No one is disputing pregnancy discrimination happens. They are suggesting that Warren may not be telling the truth about it happening to her. In fact, it being a relatable experience is a good motive for a serial fabulist seeking votes to suggest it happened to them.
“This happened to others so Warren must be telling the truth” is not a good argument. It’s possible that Warren is telling the truth after years of telling another story and despite contemporaneous evidence suggesting otherwise, but that requires more proof than “it happens”.
Some people also get attacked at night and have racial epithets yelled at them, but that doesn’t mean Jussie Smollet was a victim of a hate crime.

We should follow the evidence.

Good time to look back at all the irresponsible people who promoted a conspiracy related to this murder.
Example here is @AOC promoting the idea that his murder was associated with his testimony:
A bunch of left-wing activists are still promoting the same anti-police conspiracy even after the arrest of 3 suspects.

Pathetic.

I like Kerr, but don’t see why anyone should listen to his lectures about social justice issues ever again.
All these NBA people acted offended over someone saying NBA players should just “shut up and dribble,” but as soon as they get asked about a major human rights topic that might present some actual financial risk to them, they start imposing the rule on themselves.
Also, you don’t have to be that well-versed to understand a totalitarian regime that puts millions of citizens in camps based solely on their religion, silences dissent, and squashes freedom movements is bad.

So much hypocrisy being exposed here.

Confirmed: The Department of Labor — after a "thorough reexamination of the available information and upon reflection" — has reinstated Leif Olson who was wrongly accused of anti-Semitism by Bloomberg Law based on some sarcastic Facebook posts from 2016.

Slight update: After the Labor Department reinstated Leif Olson, Bloomberg Law published a new story noting Olson had rejoined the agency. I'm told, however, reporters at Bloomberg Law were instructed not to tweet the new story out. It has also not been promoted by @BLaw.

Ever since I was a kid, I've always built my main rig myself.

The time when that was practical or necessary passed a long while ago, but it was an eccentricity I couldn't ever let go.
Some of it was borne out of the DIY punk rock impulse, some of it out of a sense of craftsmanship, some of it out of overindulgence of a control complex, I always preferred writing code on something that I built myself.
My main rig right now has lasted since 2009 and its retirement is nigh. While Sandy Bridge proved to be a durable platform, the models are finally getting too big to train in a timely fashion.

And this was the first time I paused before starting to look at components.
