Radio neditry ahead: A quick update on the Narda Signal Shark that I got a couple weeks ago. A firmware update fixed many of the more glaring usability and performance issues that I encountered. So a revised set of impressions (not a "review").
Overview: wideband portable spectrum / signal analyzer / direction finder / receiver, 0-8 GHz, 40 MHz realtime BW.

Plusses: exceptional dynamic range and transient signal capture, mostly good demodulation. Generally wow.

Minuses: too many menus. Not enough buttons.
In particular, while the receiver performance is quite good (though demodulation isn't great), it's still hard to use under field conditions to reliably identify the signal you're seeing. The R&S PR100 is better in that regard. Hoping a future FW update improves this.

Once every few years or so, I notice my 50+ year old Curta calculator on the shelf, still working like new, and marvel at what an absolute mechanical wonder it is.
Liechtenstein has been all but forgotten as a center of mechanical computation.
I was born a generation or so too late to have direct daily experience with mechanical calculators, though my mom’s first job was as a “Comptometer Operator” in a large business.

CAPTCHAs were originally conceived as a stopgap; an inconvenience imposed on legitimate users until we find better solutions to automated bots. But now that they're being used to train commercial ML systems, we're likely stuck with them for a lot longer.
The original idea was that CAPTCHAs force the adversary to do AI-hard research that would be useful on its own. But now they're giving the adversary the option to do something much more insidious: research how to automatically fool life-critical ML into being falsely trained.
Are there safeguards against this? Maybe. Maybe not. But all the incentives are completely different from what the original CAPTCHA idea envisioned, with potentially much higher stakes.

In June, with almost no public input, the Austin City Council changed a city ordinance that would allow homeless people to sleep and camp in public places, to take effect on July 1. They then took a five week vacation.

Since July 1, the results have been absolutely disastrous for Austin. The Mayor and the City Council left the Austin police to deal with the mess they created. They promised to look st the policy in August. But they never put it on the agenda & never reconsidered the policy.

Quick Update:

I'll post something more detailed tomorrow, just a few basic thoughts here. $BTC did end up hitting the zone I previously mentioned as being an ideal top, currently bouncing off of it.
Fairly significant confluence of resistance in this region.

128 Day MA has proven to be significant almost every time it's been tested for years. Base of prior consolidation zone. Price target on setup has also just been hit. Resistance trend line as well.
On the other hand, PA on BTC certainly looks alright for the bulls. We've seen a gradual stair stepping upwards, with prior resistance consistently becoming support. Typically a weak response to capitulation is bearish - though of course that changes if it's sustained.
