2/This is Nixon aide,John Ehrlichman. He served 18 mos in Safford, AZ federal prison for perjury, obstruction of justice and conspiracy in connection with Watergate. Nixon refused Ehrlichman's request for a pardon. In 1987, Reagan also refused to pardon him.
3/ At the time of their Watergate trials, Haldeman had been working for Nixon for 20 years. Ehrlichman had been working for Nixon for 15 years. Nixon told each of them he loved them like brothers. Fierce personal loyalty on a 2-way street, but no pardons.

4/ When you read about politicians and historical figures, as I do, you see stories of deep personal loyalty. Devotion can bring good policy results. JFK and Bobby had fiercely loyal teams who worked tirelessly on their agendas. LBJ, too. Who is intensely loyal to Trump?
end/ When you stick with a leader because you fear him, you look for the first off-ramp that can free you from his political grasp. Romney will lead many R sheep to that off-ramp in the next 3 weeks. How do I know? History repeats, friends.
