one time i was in the basement of this temple + this guy shut the door + told us he wanted to show us this psychokinetic (he didnt use this word) power he had + spent the next few hours moving things like very small objects around a desk. i was atheist and skeptical at this time.
there were probably about 20 other people there and he spent about 2 hours doing this. he also was able to move my hand, i held it up and, it was pretty weird, i felt this like, energy acting on my hand and my fingers moved independently of my own action.
none of the people there (running a spectrum of beliefs and backgrounds) thought it was fake, it was pretty obviously real yet no one could really explain the mechanism behind it. i spoke to lots of them individually afterwards and they all thought it was strange but real.
i knew a lot of the people that were there for years and every now and then i'd hit one of them up and ask them "hey remember that time that guy moved all that stuff with his mind that one time?" and they were always like "haha wow yeah cant believe that really happened".
never mentioned this on twitter before. would rather not say the guys background or what his general claims were but have been reading about psychokinetic stuff and was wondering if anyone else has experienced something like this.
actually i will say one interesting thing. he said that this power was basically like a power of god. he was very religious but not christian (do the math), and he said he would be able to do it because he wasnt trying to impress us, he just wanted to show us it was possible.
guess the weirdest part was that it didnt really radically shatter my worldview like u would expect. it was just a really strange thing that happened to me that i kept in my back pocket for many years but, it would be a long time before i got turned on to weird theological stuff
one other cool detail was that when we opened the door + left the room, it was extremely hot in there. the room had heated up to an insane degree. i actually walked around and checked the other rooms with shut doors to see if they were hot like that but they werent. very strange
