Some ideas are so bad that they don't need careful analysis. They need to be mocked until their proponents crawl into a dark hole someplace to hide their shame. Conservatives have taken their opponents seriously instead of literally.
Engaging intellectually by explaining why these ideas are bad is much less effective than driving the holders of such views out of the public square. The Left understands this and is doing just that.
Civility is but one virtue and turning it into the end all, be all of conservatism ensured that it and only it would ultimately be protected. Civility alone will save nothing and no one.
