Interesting to see how the Open Interest in Infosys 740 Puts was created. The position was build on 16th July 2019 in Options expiring in September.
Position was held through August without diluting the same.
The options were held through the month of September, unfortunately for them, nothing happened and everything expired worthless on 26th Sep
The option buyers would have known that their current holding was worthless. Hence on 25th Sep, they acquired similar quantity of November 740 Puts
Like in the previous time, this time too they have held it through October without diluting the OI
The buyers are now very much deep in profits yet seem to be willing to play the longer game for now. Bets to these type I doubt would have been executed without some prior (Insider) information.
Out of the money options are very illiquid, but thanks to Algo's that keep a look-out, you can buy if the price is seemed like something which is worthwhile by the Algo.
Its doubtful that the seller is Naked, most probably its a algo that trades on Statistical Arbitrage strategies and would be completely hedged.
But if they were smaller players selling naked, today was Thanksgiving for the Turkey's. Would have wiped out a large capital if not the whole capital.
