Of course.
This is an extremely good point. The choices are between "bad strategists: proven" and "inexperienced." What would make me much more confident in our ability to learn and get smarter from this is the admission of mistakes.
What so many people find galling about Rhodes et. al is that they're angling for power again without, it seems, any introspection--the kind that might transform their experience into wisdom.
Or certainly: It's what I find galling. I shouldn't speak for anyone else.
