When I think about the creation of a brand & its direction, I think about it musically now. What would its album art be? What would its sound be? If we had a stage, what visuals would we have used? That gives it an emotional quality I always felt it hard to find with software.
I think good analogs outside of your normal bubble can help strengthen an answer normally reliant on a traditional mindset. It helps you step outside of how you normally would think to see what other options exist & how you could see it scale differently.
I think everyone has something. @rahulvohra has gaming, I have music, @shl has writing/art, etc. I think it can be valuable to see things differently & combine different kinds of art to get a unique result as opposed to being one dimensional.
@rahulvohra @shl I am not sure you need to overthink things since testing your ideas rapidly is probably more important but I suspect being inspired by other forms art helps you rapidly make some instinctive decisions when you can't pay for a fancy branding firm.
@rahulvohra @shl When I was 20 though, I didn't have any of this. I made a logo at 2 AM in photoshop & threw it up on the website. I picked blue because, well, everyone did and it seemed safe. And then, we were sort of stuck - inertia is powerful. People get used to things.
