Republican Rep Chip Roy said the purpose of the Exxon hearing is to "provide story line for the court case going in on New York" and about "demonizing companies." Remember how our lives are powered, he says, cites the AC/heat in the room in the building.

In his opening remarks he did not mention, once, the issues specific to Exxon - why the hearing is being held - or how Exxon has a documented track record of denying the reality of carbon emissions on climate change.

My favorite DMs, aside from the violent rapey ones, are the ones where men tell me how Congress works. And their handy description reflects not one bit of how it really works or what happened on said day. So that's cool.
P.S. No one told me that once you are a reporter, strangers will report your story to you as if you had no idea the thing happened.
P.P.S. I love talking news w/ppl (duh) but there is a way some do it that blows my mind. They're less interested in convo, more interested in pretending to be a news pundit. As the saying goes, I dont come to your job & knock the... stack of meaningless paperwork of your desk.

The Cohen hearing has begun. Republican Rep. Mark Meadows immediately raises a point of order to complain that Cohen's testimony was not submitted 24 hours in advance. He moves to postpone the hearing.
Meadows, shouting, says Cohen submitting his testimony last night was an "intentional" move to show his "disdain" for the committee.
Republican Rep. Jim Jordan then interjects to complain that CNN (supposedly) had Cohen's testimony before he did.

NEW: I just attended oral argument for the appeal brought by Seth Rich’s parents against Fox News

The Riches sued Fox for intentional inflection of emotional distress. This case is related to a conspiracy theory broadcast by Fox News that in 2016 Seth, a DNC staffer, had leaked DNC emails to WikiLeaks prior to being shot and killed.

In August, the federal trial court dismissed the case, and the parents are appealing that dismissal. As the Washington Post explains here, "The May 2017 story stated, falsely, that investigators had evidence showing Rich leaked thousands of DNC emails to WikiLeaks"
