More goodness from a superb article articulating the benefits of EU membership perfectly: "But of the trade agreements the EU has with more than 50 countries around the world, not one gives service industries the same level of guaranteed access as the Single Market. Not one."
In fact, I recommend you read the whole article. If everyone had, we wouldn't be in the mess we find ourselves in now. (What's most remarkable to me is that it was published in the *Telegraph*!!)

Got some bad news for you. After Brexit, every single consignment from the EU will attract duties. So you'll have a notice to pay, and you'll have to trundle along to the Post Office and pay the duty plus an £8 handling fee. *There is no minimum purchase amount*. Thanks, Brexit!
I covered this in more detail in my book, but that's the gist of it. Magically other delivery firms e.g. ParcelForce also charge the exact same £8 handling fee. So imagine something that costs £10 from the EU now. After Brexit, it will cost £20 (£10 + £2 VAT + £8 handling fee).
What goes for us goes for the EU too. So if you're a UK business sending stuff to EU customers your product is magically going to be more expensive for them, and more hassle to receive.

"Tories deny plan to compromise workers' rights after Brexit" Kwasi Kwarteng says there's no truth to it. So that's all right then. Because everyone knows that Kwasi Kwarteng's word is stronger than any international treaty. We can all stop worrying. theguardian.com/politics/2019/…
Of course, if you're a rare reprobate who prefers to trust in treaties, what you need to know is the Tories have moved a commitment to maintain EU standards out of the legally binding Withdrawal Agreement and into the non-binding Political Declaration, giving it zero weight.
On top of that, Brexiters are on record on numerous occasions as lauding the potential to liberalise UK rules after Brexit (ie make them worse, because we can already improve on EU rules as a member). But Kwasi Kwarteng's assurance trumps everything else of course.

Oh, look. It's the Operation Brock traffic jam kicking in already. The roads have only been closed a few hours, and already the queue is building.

And if your first thought is "why are they stopping traffic 6 days before Brexit?" the answer's dead simple: propaganda.

String opening statement: The admin is not seeking a new AUMF for Iran. The Administration has not to date interpreted the 2001 or 2002 AUMF to authorize action against Iran, except to defend U.S. forces or partner forces.
String: It does provide authority to defend partner forces. This is not unique to Iran. This is not new. [This last claim is, I believe, contestable. Before Trump, there was no claim of a general legal authority to defend all partner forces, including non-state actors.]

FM: That is an important development for us. It represents a commitment, not only to France, but also to Scotland’s role as an outward facing European nation.

It also perhaps overdue. After all, France was the very first country to establish a consulate in Scotland.

An EEA type arrangement is - by some distance - the most popular way forward. 43% support it, including 34% of Leave voters. And the ERG's positioning is way out on a limb - even amongst Leave voters only 39% support leaving without a deal. /1
The self-imposed redlines of the Government and Labour Party of ending freedom of movement also lack popular legitimacy. The people think ending free movement is less important than continued access to the single market. /2

1. Concern is not really about standards: EU expects the UK to diverge – otherwise what is the point of leaving the SM & CU?
2. It’s about how you manage divergence: EU has a sophisticated system to monitor compliance and enforce common standards (why? See this by @nick_gutteridge : goo.gl/3x4KF1).
