Of course, if you're a rare reprobate who prefers to trust in treaties, what you need to know is the Tories have moved a commitment to maintain EU standards out of the legally binding Withdrawal Agreement and into the non-binding Political Declaration, giving it zero weight.
On top of that, Brexiters are on record on numerous occasions as lauding the potential to liberalise UK rules after Brexit (ie make them worse, because we can already improve on EU rules as a member). But Kwasi Kwarteng's assurance trumps everything else of course.
And the number one reason to trust him? Because he coauthored a book, Britannia Unchained, calling for deregulation. So he is the perfect person to defend the Government against claims it wants to do exactly that, just like arsonists make the best firemen.
