The odds he REALLY believes this are zero. But he THINKS he does.

And there is no way to cogently reason with an actor who denies reality to such an extent.

There is a flawed idea abroad that philosophers must entertain any absurdity put forward. This is not the case. That would be to place philosophy at the mercy of sophistry. And philosophy exists to destroy sophistry, not serve it.
