There are many gaping holes in the Brexiter argument, but one of the best ones is the idea there's a world of trade outside of the EU waiting for a New British Empire with open arms.

Truth is most of the world still hates our last one. Let's remember some of our worst crimes

Famously we, not the nazis, invented concentration crimes. In the 2nd Boer War of 1899 we rounded many women and children into these camps. 1 out of 5 died

The nice Mr Rees Mogg recently attempted to deny then sweep under the carpet this atrocity as British Empire innovation.

India, nirvana for the New Brexiter Empire, has not much to remember us kindly for. Our famous partition plan, only beaten by Brexit in terms of badly thought through idea, killed 10 million. Then there were those we massacred and the famines where even more died. Go the Brits

Although the Boer concentration camps were the most famous, they weren't the only place we "innovated". Kenyans were rounded up in the 100s of thousands during the Mau Mau protests. Up to 100,000 died under our watch and this isn't distant past. Think 1960.

While we're talking recent history, let's remember Aden's Torture Centres.

Though MPs like to criticise Saudi Arabia in Yemen, our crimes in the 1960s were just as bad with civilians strip frozen and sexually mutilated.

The crimes we undertook were worst than anything from ISIS

Then there was the Chinese resettlement. An excercise of forced incarceration of a whole population in what's now Malaysia. We did this as a sort of genocidal preventative measure, reasoning that dead peasants couldn't rise up against our rule.
