@sccenglish … have jogged some thoughts here. I wasn’t there, but the program looked great, some fabulous presentations listed that I’d love to have attended. My disquiet is about the way this franchise suggests it is somehow all shiny and new.

#Teachers: If you're trying to help students make sense of @ABC's false use of gun range footage in a report on Sunday about violence in Syria, here are some pointers:
1. Don't be cynical: Despite the online rantings of bad-faith partisans, there is no evidence that this was intentional nor ideologically-motivated. The conflict in Syria is highly newsworthy & the motivation here was almost certainly to get a sensational, great-for-TV clip.
2. Wouldn't make sense for ABC News: While using visuals like videos & photos in false contexts is an extremely common strategy employed by misinformation purveyors, it's almost always exposed. This strategy makes sense for opportunists looking for get quick clicks, or for...

Now a days, throughout the world Pakistan is the only country having less than 1% electricity production from coal despite of the fact that we've ranked 7th in the world 7th for coal reserves. The total coal reserves of #Pakistan is estimated to be about 186bn tons

And the estimated annual coal consumption is about 5800 million tons, of which major chunk (75%) is used for electricity production. This means that the coal reserves of only Pakistan is solely enough for the world for about 30-35 years.

Many unionists are under impression Irish language is heritage of Irish nationalists, republicans or Catholics only, but they're mistaken. Irish has unionist and Protestant history too. Even today, unionists like @ErvineLinda speak Irish.

Here's a thread on some of that history.
Some unionists dismiss the Irish language as a "foreign language", but Irish is not "foreign" to the north of Ireland. It is as native to (all the counties of) Ulster as it is to Connacht, Leinster and Munster.
Ulster was seen as the most Gaelic part of Ireland until defeat of Ulster's Gaelic chieftains, who fought in opposition to English encroachment during Nine Years' War from 1593 to 1603, and Ulster plantation led to the "unruly" Gaels of Ulster being brought under English control.
