I never thought I will tell this for a #Vijay-#Atlee movie, but I ended up liking #Bigil. One of the main reasons is the characterization of Rayappan ( older Vijay) and how Vijay approaches this role. (1)
In the best scene in #Bigil, Rayappan tries to convince Sharma(Jackie Shroff) to pick his son for the football team and explains how a son doesn't have to suffer for his father's doing. Atlee has a tendency to go overboard at time. But there was a subtlness and restraint here.(2)
Vijay on the other hand shines in perhaps his first really different role that he has done in a long while, bringing in variations in both body language and mannerisms. Atlee's writing once again takes inspirations from lot of movies, but there is an improvement this time (3)

@zeevs First, let’s rewind the timelines a little, and have a look at history. I hate the past and history, but as pure facts, it sometimes is needed.
@zeevs PHP emerged in its raw, primitive form, circa 1994. It’s now 25 years old. The first idea was to get rid of CGI backends, crashing segfaults, maintenance nightmare, not suited for a web world. All that in the form of scripts, parsed through a slower but safer interpreter.

RBI revealed this in an RTI: At the end of March 2018, a record high 7,990 borrowers of above Rs 5 crore had not repaid a whopping Rs 3.71 lakh crore to banks for 1-30 days after due date. That is a four-year high record of early defaulters! 1/n
2/n. These early defaults rose by a record 281.9 per cent over December 2017 when they stood at only Rs 972 billion . On a year-on-year basis, the rise is almost 228 per cent - the highest growth of early stage overdue repayments in 4 years.
3/n. More than 5,000 of these 7,990 were new and unique early defaulters of loans above Rs 5 crore. What does this number tell us? We have been told that all bad loans are of UPA era. This number tells us that Modi govt might be brewing its own banking crisis as well.
