What's happening with Semantic Web? Have people just given up? I'm talking about RDF, RIF, OWL, etc.

Are people using these standards to build web apps in a sort of model-driven way? Where are the implementations?

Ontologies seem to be another word for "reusable, importable class hierarchy of entities and relations";
kbpedia (mkbergman.com)
seems to lead in that space; but I'm not seeing export/import (with RIF) into rule engines and web app development frameworks.

Bergman calls them "Ontology-Driven Apps": mkbergman.com/2267/combining…

OMG calls it "Model Driven Architecture": worldscientific.com/doi/abs/10.114…

They are keepers of the light for the UML tradition, which begat SBVR, BPMN, DMN, OCL, etc etc.

2 friends one in mid 30's (F1) and another in mid 40s (F2) met up after almost a decade.. after sometime the conversation was about politics and slowly they were up n about discussing the situation over past 5 yrs..

The conversation went as thus -

F1: hey have u seen the way India has zoomed back into the top 5 economies of the world?
F2: yes, I heard that. Infact they r on the verge of moving into 4th spot pretty soon n into 3rd spot in next 5 yrs or so if the same level of pace continues

F1: isn't it shame that it took us so long to get there while many other countries smaller than us that got freedom at about same time as us have zoomed past us
F2: yes that's true but we had our own challenges and in any case let bygones be bygones

#SWIProlog comes with a very nifty IDE. start swipl myfile.pl
?- edit. You're in pceEmacs, an emacs clone running in your vm.
C-c C-n to get a project navigator, menus to get thread monitors, debug message window.

#Prolog is a 'closed world' system. If Prolog can't prove it, it's false.
OWL, reasoning for the semantic web, is open world, and assumes there might be more triples it doesn't know.
Closed reasoning is more powerful, but is, well, "closed minded".
