Sir Henry Bellingham has withdrawn from the Speaker race. As it stands there are now eight candidates.
All candidates will have to put in a valid nomination by 10:30am on Monday to be eligible to stand for Speaker.
Each candidate has to sign a statement and have the signatures of between 12 and 15 MPs “of whom not fewer than three shall be Members elected to the House as members of any party other than that to which the candidate belongs or members of no party”.
The candidates for Speaker - in alphabetical order - are:

Chris Bryant, Labour MP for Rhondda since 2001

Harriet Harman, Labour MP for Peckham/Camberwell since 1982

Meg Hillier, Labour MP for Hackney South and Shoreditch since 2005
Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Labour MP for Chorley since 1997

Dame Eleanor Laing, Conservative MP for Epping Forest since 1997

Sir Edward Leigh, Conservative MP for Gainsborough since 1983
Shailesh Vara, Conservative MP for North West Cambridgeshire since 2005.

Dame Rosie Winterton, Labour MP for Doncaster Central since 1997.
