@mcsweeneys @crmonks A million years ago when I was helming the @mcsweeneys inbox, most people assumed it was an army of people doing the screening, but it was almost always me, and the assumptions people would make about who was reading the work cracked me up.
@mcsweeneys @crmonks I was called a "Brooklyn hipster" many many times, even though McSweeney's had moved to San Fran by then and I worked out of an apartment and later home where I lived with my wife and two dogs in Greenville, SC. I couldn't have been further from a hipster.
@mcsweeneys @crmonks I also wasn't particularly young. I think I was 33 when I started, 39 when I handed the main page over to @crmonks and mid 40's when we ended the column contest that I read for. Chris just turned 65, so he's definitely not young and hip.
