Subtweeting the speckled toad because I want to rant. It's not that communist philosophy, such as it was, is the same as modern left philosophy, and thus us Eastern Europeans see similarities in *rhetoric*. Rather the similarities are in the type of social disease both represent
For example, in EE, university admittance wasn't based on merit but on the merit + political points. If your parents were educated, that was a debit. If you were proletariat, it was a credit. If you were a party member, a bigger credit. Sound familiar?
It also seeped into all other aspects of university life. History, philosophy, it was infested with Marxist-Leninist dogma. The only "safe" subjects were mathematics, physics, as they could not be politicized. Even biology was heavily politicized. Sound familiar?
Whether courts, police, every institution, every factory, had political commissars that ensured that outcomes were politicized, that the political people were promoted, and the dissidents suppressed.
This extreme politicization of every aspect of life was made more difficult by the fact that the actual beliefs that were being promoted were absolutely at odds with human nature and so could not be honestly believed by anyone except a small group of small minded, coarse people.
These were the 'nomenklatura'. The insiders, who were either mentally defective or cynically exploiting the rhetoric of fairness and justice to climb career and educational ladders and the expense of subverting the institutions they burrowed into. Familiar?
So when we say that a formerly healthy society such as Czechoslovakia was cordycepted by a host of maniacal political cadres that led the entire nation to generations of sclerosis and kakistocracy, the specific details of their beliefs aren't what we find concerning today.
Rather, it's the extreme politicization of education, courts, woke capital, media by resentful, hateful people who celebrate deformity. We are told a castrated 7 year old dancing in strip clubs is 'stunning and brave', as hordes honk and clap like mentally ill seals.
The NYTimes is indistinguishable from Pravda and WAPO from Izvestia, and both take on the personality of angry schoolgirls, screaming in outrage about how they wont talk to their fathers because they voted for the wrong person. Socialism is, first and foremost, a social disease.
It so contrary to human nature that it requires suppressing core elements of what it means to be a healthy adult and functioning society. Thus it's a type of masochism, and the social masochism/castration/self-loathing currently ascendant is the same disease
