Sure, some jerk is will discover how to scan the Sprint network and cause all the Jeeps in the area to halt with a single command, potentially killing a lot of people. But that jerk will almost certainly be a researcher who gets the bug fixed rather than a murdering hacker.
The potential sounds bad, but frankly, doing this is about as hard to carry out as a sarin attack on a sports stadium. If you wanted to cause "doom", there's actually lots of other ways you can already do it. People don't now, and won't in the future.
