Official documents from his own government say the precise opposite of what the Prime Minister is saying here.
See my story from October 23rd. Checks in both directions.

The Prime Minister also says that the EU partly gave a deal to the UK because of the threat of no deal. Despite the fact that his deal was secured long after the Benn Act, effectively prohibiting no deal, was passed.
The Prime Minister also criticises Corbyn’s policy which is to “chuck this deal away” and “go off” and negotiate his own deal, which was, well, precisely his policy when he took over.
He also describes Northern Ireland’s settlement of “free movement” and “access to the single market” as a “great deal”. Of course many who wanted those things as part of a soft Brexit for the whole UK will ask why they can’t have it too.
All in all, it is a curious summary.
