The ring leaders are 3 brothers who were born in China, but at some point became naturalized US citizens. All 3 brothers are in custody as well as their wives.
Oops I should have finished reading. Just to clarify: the crooks did the swaps by doing exchanges at Apple stores, but before doing so, they intentionally damaged the counterfeits so that Apple would exchange them under warranty.
