I'm still shaken by what happened tonight to @HenMazzig at @Vassar College. If you've heard him speak, you know that he advocates for peaceful coexistence. He supports Palestinian rights & is open to answering the hard questions from anyone. But they don't want him to speak. 1/
@HenMazzig @Vassar The people who wanted to silence him don't care about peaceful coexistence. They are driven by ideology, which is a very dangerous thing. They don't want to let him speak because it humanizes him. And the last think the want to do is admit a Jew from Israel is a human.
@HenMazzig @Vassar A similar thing happened to @ShaiDeLuca recently. He was uninvited from an event because his serving in the IDF was considered provocative. Most Israelis serve in the IDF. By excluding someone who served in the IDF, they are disenfranchising nearly half of Jews world wide.
@HenMazzig @Vassar @ShaiDeLuca How can you convince Israel that peace is possible and will be lasting when you treat the people of Israel as less then human pariahs. Why should Israel trust a world that invites them to organizations only to constantly attack them...
@HenMazzig @Vassar @ShaiDeLuca Or invite an Israeli to speak on your campus, knowing full well that he will face abuse, and do nothing to stop it. Free speech is allowing him to have his say and then allowing others to respond. It is not allowing the others to shut down his right to speak.
@HenMazzig @Vassar @ShaiDeLuca Jews have been waiting 2000 years to be treated like everyone else. Herzl was convinced that antisemitism existed because Jews were stateless. We were always a minority nation among other nations, Once we had a state of our own antisemitism would end. He was wrong & right.
@HenMazzig @Vassar @ShaiDeLuca He was wrong because antisemitism did not end when the Jewish nations because a stated nation once again. It's not better or worse. It just persists. But he was also right...
@HenMazzig @Vassar @ShaiDeLuca He was right because the ONE place on the planet that Jews can live freely without facing antisemitism as Hen encountered tonight, where acceptance isn't preconditioned, is in our own state, the very place those that chanted "from the river to the sea" want to destroy.
@HenMazzig @Vassar @ShaiDeLuca I'm tired and headed to bed. Let's hope for a better world tomorrow. Good night. שלום سلام Peace
