Not a bad list of films from Sriram Raghavan

Seen about 10 of these 30

Stalag 17 - overrated. Its inspiration is from Renoir's Grand Illusion

Asphalt Jungle was the inspiration for The Killing

Not sure why he includes both

Raghavan's own Johnny Gaddar is as good as a heist film can get

And it follows in the tradition kickstarted by Asphalt Jungle
What's a bit embarassing to me is that I barely recall Fallen Idol now, though I remember enjoying it a lot at the time

Should thank Raghavan for reminding me
Jules et Jim is one of the milestone films of the French New Wave

But the climax of Jules et Jim is practically "lifted" by Francois Truffaut from the less well known Otto Preminger classic from the early 50s - "Angel Face"

It's a pretty shameless tribute to Preminger IMO
Saccha Jhoota is a very interesting pick by Raghavan

Enjoyed it a lot. A very neat masala film, though that sounds a bit oxymoronic

Many ingenious plot devices in it. Revived Manmohan Desai's career
