While Mollie is correct in her overall assessment, I believe it would be more accurate to call it a draw.

On pure politics, both sides made the most of a very weak case for impeachment. The ball didn't move at all, so advantage Trump. 1/

Democrats succeeded (more than in all previous attempts) to rough up Trump, because most witnesses were very credible and underlying interactions were tawdry. Republicans succeeded in portraying Trump as a victim of a Democratic plot to oust a duly elected President. 2/
Truth be told neither side is entirely wrong, so the outcome is kind of fair and just. Trump should cease and desist from indulging in his worst instincts, but he should not be removed from office based on what has been revealed, and it is highly unlikely he will be. So, fair! 3/
Unlike the insane and hellish wastefulness of Russia Collusion fiasco, this has been somewhat illuminating. Witnesses by and large comported themselves admirably, and the public got a good civics lesson in the inner workings of our government. 4/
More to come, but this has not been entirely wasteful. Contrary to what I'm reading in the media, my gut feeling is this, on the whole, will have a salutary and sobering effect on both sides, as the nation relearns anew the limits of extreme partisanship in a centrist nation. 5/x
