Hang on. I thought 50k more nurses were @BorisJohnson’s top priority?

Well, his pledge to reinstate the nursing bursary just unravelled.

A token bursary, sure. But student nurses will still have to pay uni tuition fees.

This is stunningly deceitful.

This matters because patients matter. Applicants to nursing degrees fell by 20% when the Tories axed the bursary. And we’re short of 43k nurses.

But the bursary *included* paid tuition fees.

Now it doesn’t.

Why isn’t Johnson being held to account for this electoral dishonesty?

This beggars belief.

@MattHancock has given Amazon access to huge swathes of NHS data to exploit however they choose - for free. The NHS won’t see a penny.

Our NHS is being sold off even as @BorisJohnson swears blind it isn’t.

Last year on #NationalComingOutDay, a young man I know had a life altering effect on me when he became a statistic.

25% of youth who come out to their family immediately become homeless. If you’re POC, the statistic is higher.

Last Sunday— October 6, 1998 was the 21st anniversary of the murder of Matthew Shepherd. He was driven to a remote, rural area in WY, robbed, pistol-whipped, tied to a fence, tortured & left to die all because he was gay.

He would’ve been 42 years old.

Had the world had not known Matthew Shepherd & seen how hate let him be beaten, bruised & forgotten to die on a fence post—or Jack become homeless— days like #NationalComingOutDay or #Pride month wouldn’t need to exist.

I long for the day when there is no need to declare this.

To celebrate the impending 10th anniversary of @GamesDoneQuick , I've taken the liberty of compiling a list of 100 of the best runs showcased throughout its history. I'll be adding one run to this thread every day until the 1st of January, which marks ten years to the day.
Some caveats:
* No, these aren't literally the best 100 runs. How do you even measure that? But they're all runs I think leave their impact on the event's history.
* Obviously I haven't picked any of my own runs - but there are some I commentated on, and felt privileged to do so.
* I've got at least one run in here from all 20 live events to date - CGDQ, all 9 editions of AGDQ and SGDQ, and last year's GDQx. No JRDQ or HRDQ, sorry!

Also I won't be adding anything from the upcoming GDQx, which is this weekend, but you obviously should watch that anyway!

My date followed up by asking, “If your boyfriend asked you to cook for him, would you?” I grinned, as I realised my date was sadly playing from a script. I replied, “I don’t have a guy I like who’s asking me to cook, so I can’t say.”
I think my date thought I was being coy. But, I wasn’t. I was just being honest. A while ago, I decided to deal in reality and not hypotheticals. I have tried and failed to control life. All my effort got me was an anxiety problem and therapy.

Part 4: Imitation

1/ Sometimes you’ll get to see a two-year old boy sitting next to his dad on the couch. When the dad crosses his legs, so will the kid. It’s charming.
2/ We learn by imitating. People show us something that we then discover we have inside ourselves and in this way the people we’re with call out our identity from within us. That goes on throughout our lives.
3/ But sometimes imitation is not so great. Think of how a celebrity starts a destructive fad. Our desire to be like these demi-gods can overwhelm rational thought. You think not?
