Fuck. Things have been so hectic lately in my life. I just realized I leave for Jamaica in 9 days to meet my half siblings whom I didn’t know about until May of this year. 2019 is non-stop intensity!
Further context: I was raised by a Catholic white single mom in KY. Never met my father though he knew about me. Mom doesn’t talk much about it. I decided to try to find him in May but he passed last year. Since then I’ve been connecting with some of my 5 half siblings.
I’ve never known black bio family. Only my oldest siblings knew about me, for the rest my contacting them in May was the first they had heard of me. I am going to Jamaica to meet one brother & one sister.
I’m bringing a friend for support. I have a plane ticket & an @Airbnb reservation near where my siblings live. That’s it. That’s the extent of the plan. I am Type A as fuck but going into this as open & flexible as possible. No expectations. Just following my gut/spirit.
On a lighter note: the sister I’m meeting is five years younger than me & always posting cute pics on IG. We look a lot alike, which has never happened for me (looking like a relative) & I honestly would be thrilled to just get glammed up with her & go dancing.
