When I say on this site that I'm moving to Texas it's frequently met with contempt. If you think a state that could contain 40 Connecticuts, is among the most racially and culturally diverse in the nation, and is geographically wildly diverse is all one thing, then you're stupid.
Like actually, you have not done enough critical thinking to know that what you are saying is dumb. It is offensive to the overwhelming variety of people that live in the state. It's offensive to me. It's offensive to my family. It's ignorant.
If I said that Connecticut was the same as New Jersey was the same as New York was the same as Pennsylvania people would flip their shit. But somehow a state that could contain all three of those places, and has coasts, plains, pine forests and mountains is somehow...one thing?
Texas is the second most diverse state in the country. It is politically diverse, and will be a swing state in the next decade. If you choose to allow the loudest voices in the room to define all of the people who live there, then you are just not smart.
And I swear to god if one more of you is like, "Oh but Austin isn't Texas." Or "Oh Texas is shit but Austin is cool," I'd love to know how you know that. Is it because maybe you don't?
A piece of every single fucking city in the state is "like Austin." Amarillo has a low key weird art scene. San Antonio is cool as hell. Marfa is amazing. People in East Dallas love the neighborhood and have amazing events. The whole place is "like Austin." You just didn't know.
Anyway, go off y'all.

Texas is amazing, and I love it. I am a Texan to my literal core and I'm not apologizing for my state because it's absolutely great. I'm thrilled to live there. I'm thrilled to own land there. I'm thrilled to be around my very Texan family there.
Anyway, thanks for tuning into today's rant.

People who shit on Texas are elitist, generally classist and certainly have never spent much time there. I have no time for any of you.
Also bonus: My mortgage on 5 acres of land and a tiny house that I'm buying for no real reason and my rent on an apartment in downtown Austin combined is $800 less per month than the rent I was paying in Harlem.

Tell me more about how Texas aint good.
Have you seen the *sky* in South Texas? Or been there while the monarchs migrate to Mexico, and flock around you if you stand still?

Have you seen Palo Duro Canyon?

Have you seen Cado Lake?

Have you seen Big Bend National Park?

Texas is the most beautiful place on earth.
