The FBI issued a warning about hackers hacking smart TVs & Business Insider wrote about it but neither mentioned the 2017 FTC settlement when Vizio paid $2.2M for collecting viewer data from 11 million smart TVs without their consent. ftc.gov/news-events/pr…
Since 2014 Vizio was using used proprietary software to track up to 100 billion data points per day from more than 10 million TVs. They even remotely installed the software on older models. Data was stored indefinitely. How is a hacker worse than this? ftc.gov/system/files/d…
I hate to be that person "they didn't mention x" but the fear-mongering that your TV is gonna get hacked vs. the manufacturer hoovering up 100 billion data points per day per TV and selling them for profit is just... we're afraid of the wrong things.

People don't understand that their news feeds are algorithmically generated based on people and content they previously interacted with. I cannot stress enough how bad this is.
SM companies do this to keep you on their platforms, looking at their ads. They assume if you engaged with "x" FB page 4 times last week then you must like "x" FB page so they'll keep showing you more of "x" FB page, since you like it, and hopefully you'll stay on FB longer.
The other unseen force that keeps us glued to our feeds: the user interface is engineered to be addictive. It's a slot machine in your pocket. People embrace the "endless scroll" because it's designed that way -- and it's good for business.

(1) The head of the #FBI CT Unit in DC, AG Barr's office & the Special Agent In Charge (SAIC) of my local FBI field office will soon be receiving notification of a lawsuit, with which I will haul the SAIC (personally) into Federal Court, for allowing #JTTF personnel ....
(2) to target me like a criminal cartel.

Many #JTTF personnel comprised of local, state & tribal Law Enforcement (LE) agencies have a long track record of police brutality, corruption & civil/human rights violations.

#FBI is not choosing the "cream-of-the-crop" from LE ....
(3) indeed, they seek out the criminal element, which has infiltrated once-honest LE agencies.

The SAIC of each field office is ultimately in charge of #JTTF operations.

#JTTF is comprised of #FBI, local, state and tribal LE "officers" who assume they can act like thugs ....

Like any bureaucracy you have friendly people and not so friendly people.

When I relayed to one woman what I had been experiencing at the hands of corrupt #FBI & #JTTF personnel ....
(2) she responded "I can tell you that the #FBI does not operate like that."

I responded to her that there were decent people working in the #FBI, and that someone like her would not be aware of extrajudicial operations due to compartmentalization and the illegality ....
(3) of such protocols. She took the report, but was not too receptive.

Since I am having another issue with the #FBI #JTTF looting me for nearly $100,000 from a bank (via a bogus "emergency letter" or "National Security Letter" gained by lying to a federal magistrate/judge) ....

UCC had opportunity to comment on the #Data.Protection & Privacy Bill. The enactment of this law is long overdue. A comprehensive law on the collection & processing personal information gives effect to the right to Privacy envisaged under Article 27(2) of the Constitution
UCC welcome the protections offered by the Bill in terms of export of data, breach notification requirements, data subjects access rights, automated decision making, compensation and the right to be forgotten and provision for financial and penal sanctions for breach of the law.
Distinction between Data collectors & data controllers.
The Bill should however clarify & distinguish Data Collectors, from Data Processors & Data Controllers. Clause 2 is inconsistent with international good practice which provides for two broad categories of Data Controllers
