Yesterday, I had an opportunity to use mypy for the first time on a Django + DRF project. It's not a project that can really take advantage of types, but it was enough to get my feet wet.
In case it's useful to anyone, here are a few resources to help you get started.

This article by @OpensourceF helped me get started. Just trying to figure out how to run mypy was a bit more buried in some of the docs than I would have liked.

I used django-stubs to add static types to Django. I hope this gets officially merged into Django at some point.

I used djangorestframework-stubs to add static types to DRF and it worked as promised. Repeating myself here, but I'd also love to see this pulled into DRF or made official when it's time.

Overall, I'm not sure what was gained by adding types, but I'm working with a client who already has a nicely typed Python 3.x codebase (think micro and macro services) so adding types felt like the right thing to do.
