PLACE HOLDER: Some old bag got a patented and trademarked Count Snarkula "soft" read concerning Social Media friendships and their validity. More later, I "lifted a few."
OK, so as you know, I went to a Xmas cocktail party last night. I wandered over to a woman I know who was talking with a gentleman who turned out to be an Exec for Apple. Eventually the conversation shifted to social media. The Apple gentleman said he is not on social media 1/?
at all. My friend commented that she is on Facebook, but ended up regretting it and "closed it to family members only" I am not on Facebook, so I'm not sure what that means other than face value. So I chimed in that I am on Twitter, but under a Nom de plume. 2/?
I describing the wonderful people I have met that I could never have met IRL, and then, some under dressed woman charges in with the comment: "Computer friends aren't real friends. You can't call them that." I stopped speaking, paused, and gave her "The Look." 3/?
and turned back to the two and continued speaking. The woman broke in AGAIN and said: "You keep calling them friends, I told you computer friends aren't real friends." You can all guess the rest: BOOM! She got an earful about interrupting, telling strangers what they can and 4/?
cannot do, and finished with a description of my friendship with @GoldenGirls85 and @DameSparkula (not using names or twitter handles of course) and closing with these friendships are as real if not more so than any I have had in "real" life. She, slunk away. The other 2 laughed.
