Over 2 months ago we submitted an asylum app and entry of appearance for an MPP client. He had a hearing today. He was never put in the system before today. Found out from my coverage attorney in the middle of my asylum hrg that the court rejected everything. 2 months later.
We called multiple times over these two months to ensure it had been received. We were told “he’s not in the system” repeatedly. He’s waited 5 months in mexico w/o a hrg and now he can’t even schedule his final hrg bc they rejected his 589 for some unknown reason.
The purpose of MPP is to deny access to counsel and to make people suffer until they give up. The cruelty is the point.
Update: thanks to quick thinking of the coverage attorney we finally got a date for the final hearing despite the ridiculous behavior of the court.
