This *is* deeply disturbing.
I make no bones about offering an opinion because this isnt the subject to lay back on for the sake of objectivity. The proposed EO is inherently wrong. Half of my family's faith is not a nationality. We are Americans. We have been since we came here
Granted the devil is in the details and I see a lot of arguments for and against this notion of declaring Judaism a nationality. But throughout history, forgive me, when you start labeling Jews "officially" things go haywire pretty quick. This is unnerving and disturbing, period.

I am spending my 34th birthday covering a House Judiciary Committee vote on articles of impeachment for the president of the United States.

I mean, that is kinda cool. 😉
Dont feel bad for me folks. I am going to see the Eagles play on Sunday (excellent seats) and after today, I am off tomorrow (mercifully) and I have nothing but dinners, fine wines and a couple spa days on the agenda once the votes are tallied and I end my watch. 😉
I also just got a free donut.

We return to the scene from last night's House Judiciary Cmte hearing finalizing the impeachment articles against President Trump. Last night, it was opening statements all around. Today we will get into the meat of the moment: articles will debated in cmte and then voted on.
With Ds as the majority on cmte, it is unlikely Rs will get anywhere today unless amendments receive widespread support. But if the opening remarks were an indication, lawmakers are diametrically opposed on the articles, to put it nicely & won't come together on much, if anything

Hitler framed his ideology in oppositions and existential threats. The very existence of Jews was a threat to German existence (ditto Russians). Therefore a war of extermination was necessary for survival.
LGBAlliance says the same thing abut trans people (especially trans women)
They state "the notion of gender identity was undermining the lesbian, gay and bisexual rights".

Note how they state that..it is the very 'notion' of trans people...not even their existence but the very 'idea' of their existence takes away LGB rights.

Make no bones about it - there are many days I just don't feel like eating right and going to the gym.

Even us "pros" fall privy to the same traps that normal people fall to.

That being said, I want to share with you a simple re-framing tip I use regularly to get off my ass.
Whenever my mind starts playing tricks on me and saying things like:

"You've trained 3 days this week already, your body needs a break."

or

"One day won't matter, you've been doing this for years and years."

I always start to think about our present society.
For literally hundreds of years, as our civilization and technological advancements have grown, we have become more sedentary as a side effect.

The intentions were noble and good - to provide us with more comparative ease and comforts than the previous generation.

Disturbing #WhereAreTheChildren update.

Earlier today, HHS denied me @SenBlumenthal @RepJoeCourtney the ability to visit a child separated from their family who is being housed w a non-profit in our state.

The perverse secrecy of child separation should concern us all.
HHS’s excuse was that we need to give 14 days notice. What?? 14 days of forced separation from your parent can traumatize a kid for life. And we aren’t asking to see nuclear codes - we just wanted 10 min to make sure the child is ok.
The lack of transparency from the Administration, and the lack of giving a crap from Republicans in Congress, is so deeply disturbing. These are little children - and their lives are being changed forever by this unspeakable trauma.

back to morven farm for day two of the city council planning retreat. this event is “open to the public,” but is 20 minutes outside of town, GPS to the address takes you to the wrong gate, the number on their site is dead, & you have to give your name to a gatekeeper. “open” huh?
civic engagement starter pack: notebook, pen, external battery, snacks. not pictured: steely resolve to make it through the whole damn day.
the false entrance is blocked off with cones this morning and the gatekeeper only asked if i was “a citizen,” not for my name. i can’t help but feel like these changes are a response to my furious call to city hall yesterday.
