Watched all of Greta's powerful speech at the UN. As usual, she is right. Public opinion on climate policy matters. And the public wants the government to act on the climate crisis.

As @YaleClimateComm shows, the US public overwhelmingly supports action on climate change. Regardless of the question posed, across most of the US, there is very strong support for climate action. If you're not yet familiar with these maps, check them out!

@YaleClimateComm For example, in all but two states, a majority of the US public supports clean electricity standards. Yet, in many states we still lack basic support for renewable energy, even in sunny places like Florida!

@YaleClimateComm Unfortunately, my research with @awh and @mmildenberger shows that politicians and their staff are ignorant of the strong public support for climate action that exists. They dramatically underestimate support for climate policy.

@YaleClimateComm @awh @mmildenberger This is why the youth climate strikes, @Fridays4future and @sunrisemvmt are so important. They are getting people out into the streets. They are getting the media to write stories about the crisis. They are changing politicians' perceptions of public support for climate action.
