Dating women who don’t see my tweets is weird but good.
It gives you perspective and underscores how little of what goes on here is anything resembling real life.
I used to have what I called “the Sally Test,” named for a non-tweeting girlfriend. If there was something that happened on twitter I thought she’d get a kick out of hearing about, I used that quick Test.
“Is what I’m about to tell her worth the 60-90 second explanation? Would it be funny or interesting to someone who hasn’t been following any of this nonsense? Is the payoff worth it?”
Almost always, the answer was “hell no.” It was a good way of putting things that happen on twitter in perspective. I broke up with her, but I still use that Test.
